What is Allied Health?
Any field of study that has to do with medicine belongs in the field of Allied Health. Professionals in the healthcare industry are often referred to allied health professionals, which usually means that they have completed extensive training before they are hired. These professionals include medical assistants, dental hygienists and assistants, phlebotomists, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants, hemodialysis technicians, laboratory technicians, electrocardiographic technicians, x-ray technicians, medical secretaries, and medical coders and billers. All belong to the ever-growing field of allied health professionals.
